The government has increased the fares of public and freight transport with immediate effect. The inter-province fare for passenger and freight vehicles has been increased by a maximum of 7.7 percent depending upon the nature of the transport. This comes after the state-owned Nepal Oil Corporation increased the prices of petroleum products on Sunday.The Department of Transport Management (DoTM) has increased the fares for inter-provincial passenger and freight transport by 5.3 percent to a maximum of 7.7 percent as per the arrangement of changing fares through an automatic system as per the price of fuel.According to the department, public transportation fares for vehicles ferrying passengers have been increased by up to 5.30 per cent. Similarly, fares for vehicles transporting goods in the hilly regions have been increased by 6.94 per cent and vehicles transporting goods in the Tarai region have been increased by 7.7 percent, respectively.You can find the details of the hike here.Photo used for representative purpose only.
